Kingdom Hearts: Missing-Link – Everything We Know So Far
February 19, 2025In the world of anime and manga, few titles in recent years have managed to connect with fans as deeply as Nana. The aesthetics, the significance of music, and above all, the depth of its characters and symbols leave a lasting impression on those who have experienced it. As you may have noticed, our store has recently launched a collection of geek jewelry inspired by Nana because it is a series that has deeply touched us.
For that reason, today we dedicate this post to the symbolism of some of Nana’s most iconic elements, which are repeated throughout the series with increasingly profound meanings. These are the elements we have tried to incorporate into our collection of geek jewelry inspired by Nana. Have you ever wondered why the number 7 is so important throughout the series? Or the significance of keys and locks? Keep reading to find out! No spoilers, of course!
The Number 7: Luck, Destiny, and Connection
The number 7 has always been associated with luck and destiny in many cultures, and in Nana, this meaning goes even further. Not only do both protagonists share the same name (Nana means 7 in Japanese), but the apartment they move into at the beginning of the series is 707—the number repeated twice, just like them.
Thus, 7 symbolizes a series of encounters that can change one’s life—those special connections whose meanings evolve as the characters themselves do. More importantly, it conveys the sense that everything happens for a reason, that by the end of the journey, everything that has happened will take on a new meaning—just as Nana’s voice-over reminds us at the end of each episode.
In this collection, we aimed to replicate the importance of 7 with the 707 Necklace, inspired by the apartment number, featuring a gemstone in place of the 0. We created two versions: one with a pink stone and another with a black stone—one for each Nana. Which one is your favorite?
The Key: Love, Belonging, and New Opportunities
Another symbol frequently present in Nana is the key. In the series, it represents connection and belonging but, above all, access to something truly important. Beyond its everyday use of opening doors, it signifies deep emotional bonds. Giving someone a key symbolizes trust and closeness, as it grants access to a special place—perhaps even our own heart.
The key also reflects the beginning of a new chapter. Having a new key means gaining access to new places, new friendships, and new people to discover. It represents new paths and even a space of one’s own. In Nana, this feeling is closely tied to the idea of home, a refuge, and the search for stability.
Our Nana-inspired jewelry collection wouldn’t be complete without Nana’s Key. We have created a sterling silver pendant featuring a key that symbolizes opening new paths—while also serving as a way to offer a piece of our heart to those we love.
The Lock: A Promise and Memories That Last
Then, we have the lock. In Nana, it becomes a symbol of commitment, protection, and cherished memories. Its meaning is tied to safeguarding something valuable—whether it be a promise, a feeling, or a special bond with someone.
It also represents the desire to keep something intact, fearing its loss. A lock is, after all, a way of sealing something, preventing others from accessing it. It can be interpreted as a fear of losing something dear but also as an attachment to it. In Nana, locks appear in moments that evoke the struggle between these two emotions—the battle between holding on to the past or letting go and moving forward.
Soon, you’ll find our version of Nana’s Lock available on our website.
The Lotus Flower: Resilience and Eternal Love
In many cultures, especially in Asia, the lotus flower represents purity, resilience, and the ability to be reborn after adversity. It is a flower that emerges from the mud, thriving in the most difficult conditions, yet its beauty remains captivating and untouched. Because of this, it symbolizes rebirth, perseverance, and the ability to find beauty in hardship.
In Nana, the lotus flower carries this same symbolism. It is linked to intense emotions, deep relationships that withstand time and difficulties, and the idea that, no matter how complex and turbulent life may be, there is always a way to find light—even in the darkest places.
For this reason, the first piece in our Nana-inspired jewelry collection was the Ren Flower (Lotus Flower)—a delicate pendant in the shape of a lotus, representing resilience, purity, personal growth, and the ability to find beauty even in the toughest circumstances.
